St Woolos Primary School is a thriving community school
in the heart of Newport, South Wales.
St Woolos Primary first opened its doors in 1904 and has been an integral part of the local community ever since.
Our aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and happy environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential and develop into responsible citizens.
Celebrating achievement for all in a caring environment
We love our role play areas,
we get to decide which ones we have.
Literacy in 4/5B
In Miss Bishop's class, one of our tasks in Guided Group Reading is to find the meaning of our spelling words, so that we can use them in our writing.
Last year our attendance was 93.6% ....
Can we beat it this year?
What the pupils at St Woolos Primary think!
One of the clubs that we have attended is Drama Club. It is run by Miss Goodwin. We recently went on a trip to the Dolman Theatre to watch a show called Starlight Express. This was a reward.
Being Y6 has been a great experience. We don't want to leave because we have had a brilliant time here.
This has been the best year so far.
In year 6 we go to Talybont. When you are there you do three activities; archery, stream scrabbling and shelter building.
You can also go canoeing.
Our club is led by the awesome sportsman Mr.Evans. Every week we do a new sport.
So one week it is football and one week basketball (for e.g.) It is worth the time!!!
My name is Leighton. I joined the St. Woolos crew in Year 2. I've been in 3 clubs like music, drama and rugby. Music club is led by Mrs Kidd, drama is led by Miss Goodwin and last one but not least rugby was led by Mr Jones, but he has sadly left the crew.
St. Woolos is a smart, kind and caring school. The teachers are very, very friendly and so are the pupils. The teachers put the pupils before themselves. Our head teacher Miss Vaughan, is always very generous and is kindly going around our classes and asking our class teacher how many ticks we get. The school is well educated and sensible but good fun.
Hi my name is Marzin. When I started in St. Woolos, I did not have a single friend and I was really nervous. After a couple of days I made lots of friends such as Gennaro, Rehan and Imadul. I've really enjoyed it so far.
St. Woolos Primary School is really great. The teachers are kind, the students are kind. If you don't have any friends you will be warmly welcomed by lots of students in St. Woolos Primary. This is the place for you!
Dear readers, St. Woolos is an excellent school for your child we have clubs like tennis club, sports extra, cookery club, play ground club for the younger ones in the infants. The year six children get taken to Talybont Outdoor Pursuits Centre for 2-3 nights.
My experiences in St. Woolos Primary School have been amazing. My first ever club was football club, it was my favourite club. We have been going to tournaments in different clubs too. I also went to a tag rugby tournament with some of my friends. I have gotten used to this school a lot in the 2 years have been here. My first teacher in St. Woolos Primary School was Miss Goodwin. She was a brilliant teacher whom we could trust and listen to. She was also a very helpful teacher.
My experiences in St.Woolos Primary School were amazing. My favourite year was year six because of Talybont.
It was three day trip. We did lot of activities.
