Dear All,

This week Miss Vaughan is away inspecting a school in North Wales and I will be covering her duties. If you have any issues or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Our Foundation Phase Daffodil Day in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Research raised £196.39.  Many thanks for your support.

The Milittlepad Scratch coding workshop runs this afternoon with class 4/5B.

We are being visited today by Dr Susan Davies and Dr David Egan from Cardiff Metropolitan University, who are conducting a research project with a few Newport schools.

Thank you for attending Parent Consultations last week. As usual we had a very good turn out. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher about an alternative appointment.

This week there are Nursery Consultations on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Last week the 3/4 classes took part in a workshop linked to a Chartist Project. They made small pairs of clay shoes. This week children from the other Junior classes will also make clay shoes. The shoes are going to be used as a feature of a new Chartist Trail in Newport.

The GEMS Reading Café is on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, Years 1-6 will be introduced to “Mathletics”, which is an online Maths programme.

On Thursday afternoon, we are holding our Fairtrade Café at 2.30pm. Our Eco team will be serving tea/coffee and cake. We would love you to come and join us.

Also on Thursday, Classes 1/2MS and 1/2 DJ will be visiting the Library.

On Friday morning, Year 6 pupils will be enjoying a transition experience delivered by The Tin Shed Theatre Company.

Also on Friday (lunchtime), Mrs Parkinson and I will be supervising children who want to decorate a plate or bowl for Mother’s Day. The cost of this is £3. This will also carry over into next week.

Eco Tip

Although you can put glass jars in the recycling, I always save a few and use them for those small amounts of food that you want to keep.

Date for your Diary

Please note that we have had to change the date of Sports Day to Friday 23rd June.

Dinner Money

Please ensure that you credit your child’s  Parentpay account before ordering meals.  At the moment there are quite a few parents who have not put enough money on their child’s account and so are in debt. If you have credited funds, please ensure that you allocate the funds to the child’s account by logging in to Parentpay  – click on ’Pay for (child’s) meals – click on ‘Pay by parent account’. If you need help, please contact the office.

If you are interested in helping with fundraising in any way, please join us for a meeting of The Friends of St Woolos this Friday at 2.45pm

This is a small but busy group of parents and staff who either help to arrange events or help with activities on the day. If you would like to help in any way, but are unable to join us on Friday, please complete your details on the form below. The next event taking place will be a Mother’s Day Sale during the week beginning Monday 20th March.
