Dear All,

Good news – Class 5/6P and Mrs Parry raised £157.58 from their Macmillan Coffee Afternoon and selling cakes to fellow pupils. Thank you to all who supported this.

I have spoken to the children in Assembly and wanted to make sure that you were aware that hair decorations must comply with school uniform rules. Therefore, I have asked girls not to wear multicoloured bows or hairbands with “ears” unless it is a Casual Day. They can wear plain red, white, black or red and white check bands, ribbons or bobbles.

Last week’s Year 6 Talybont meetings were very well attended. Can I remind those who were unable to attend that you must speak to Miss Watkins if you would like your child to go, even if you have an older child who has been to Talybont?

Today, Year 6 pupils went to a Crucial Crew event which was linked to Personal and Social Education. These are held annually and are very popular events.

Parental Consultations are being held, on Tuesday and Wednesday, this week, and you should have had a slip last Wednesday giving you a specific time. Please remember that these appointments are 10 minutes long and are to discuss general progress. If you have issues which need more than 10 minutes, then you will need to make a separate appointment. Teachers will make every effort to keep to time but please be patient.

Also, I will be available if there are any questions about Attendance or Y5/Y6 Writing intervention and Miss Pretty will be available on Wednesday evening to discuss Y5/Y6 Maths Intervention. As usual there will be a video for children while you are in consultation. Please remember that only Year 6 pupils are allowed in to their consultation.

If you are unable to make the appointment that you have been given, please let the class teacher know so that they can fill the gap if needed and they can rearrange the appointment for you.

All clubs will be cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday due to Parental Consultations.

On Thursday, the fourth Families Connect meeting will be from 9.00 – 11.00am. This is going really well and we really appreciate the commitment of parents who are attending each week.

Also on Thursday, Year 6 have their final Chartist Workshop. The Chartist March will take place on Wednesday 25th October leaving the Gem Park at about 1.30pm and continuing down Stow Hill to Westgate Square.

On Friday, we are being visited by a team of firemen from the Malpas Fire Station, who will be talking to Year 2 and Year 5 from 2.00pm.

Just a quick reminder that there is an INSET day a week Friday, 27th October and then it is Half Term. We come back on Monday 6th November.

Parentpay

We have been advised by Parentpay that they will no longer be able to accept payments from pcs running on Windows XP in the very near future. They will only be able to accept payments from pcs running on Windows 7 or 10. If this becomes a problem for you then please ask at the office for a barcode letter so you can pay using the Paypoint system.

Outstanding Dinner Money

If you are ordering a school meal for your child, please ensure that you have credited their account either in Parentpay or via Paypoint beforehand. There are far too many outstanding debts and these need to be cleared immediately. Parents have been sent several chasers regarding these outstanding amounts. If you have any problems using Parentpay or Paypoint, please contact the school office.
