Hello we are Class 4/5G

Shwmai a croeso i Dosbarth 4/5G. Hello and welcome to Class 4/5G. We are going to share with you some of the things that we have been doing since September!

Our last topic was ‘All About Us’ and we had so much fun learning about lots of different things. We especially enjoyed our visit to Blaenavon Ironworks. We got to experience what it was like to be a Victorian child and discovered that school was really strict black then, nothing like St. Woolos! Thank goodness!

During our first term, we were extremely lucky to be part of the Gwent Music programme ‘Glee’ run by the talented Sarah Ellaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our workshops with her and had a fantastic time showing the whole school the songs we had learnt during a showcase at the end of the programme.

Year 5 also had the opportunity to participate in the Chartist March that took place on Stow Hill and continued into Newport City Centre. To prepare them for the event, Year 5 were visited by the wonderful Jamie Jarvis who really helped the children to get into the character. I am sure that they will agree that this was an amazing day!!

We finished the term with an absolutely fantastic production called ‘The Peace Child’. If you came to see the performance, I am sure that you will agree that the children were fab!!

This term we will be exploring the topic ‘Changes and Differences’. We have some interesting things planned such as; exciting Science experiments, writing our own Welsh Legend and a trip to Techniquest!
