Dear Parent/Carer,

Last Week

It was lovely to hear singing in school and to see concerts last week!

Year 1 and 2 classes performed their Nativity and Year 3 and 4 classes did a Christmas Traditions performance. Nursery classes did a Nativity in the Nursery.

All of the children did extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed performing. Well done to them and to the children who have stepped in at short notice to cover for children who have been away. We are really proud of all of them! They were shared on Seesaw last week for you.

Our Christmas Dinner day on Wednesday was great! We decorated tables and every child wore a party hat that they had made. We were able to run an extra long lunchtime so that children could eat tighter in their class or year groups safely in either the school hall or the Cadog Hall (annexe). Thank you to staff for their help with making this work.

This Week

Our final concert is the Year 5/6 concert tomorrow. The children look great in their costumes and I’ve heard some of the singing already, which is great, so I’m looking forward to watching them.

Also tomorrow are the Nursery Christmas parties.

In the afternoon, all classes apart from Year 5/6 classes, will be watching a Peter Duncan online pantomime Cinderella. Each class will also have some popcorn to make it feel a special experience.

Christmas Parties for the main school take place on Wednesday. A letter was sent home on Friday with details about food, so if it hasn’t made its way to you, please check with your child’s class teacher.

We hope to make the day as much fun as we can for everyone. We’re also hoping that we get a delivery from a special visitor!

We’re holding class talent shoes on Thursday and the Year 5/6 classes will also be able to watch Cinderella.

Friday is a Fun Day. We will start the day with an online Christmas Assembly prepared by Roger Bafico, from Trinity Church, Glasllwch, which has been shared with a few local schools.

Children will playing games and doing Christmas activities in class. Unfortunately, we are still not permitted to allow children to bring in toys and games from home, but we hope that they have a lovely day.

Children are asked to wear Christmas Jumpers or tops and if possible, to bring in donation for Dementia UK. The reason that we have chosen this charity is that Stefan Vine, an ex pupil of the school, is planning to row the Atlantic for Dementia Carers in January. More details can be found at www.forgetmeknotcampaign.com

Stefan has promised to talk to pupils about this in the Spring and we wish him good luck.

We break up on Friday 17th for the Christmas Holidays and school resumes on Wednesday 5th January.

Eco Tip

This week’s Eco Tip is:

Cut the hanging ribbons off ladies’ tops and blouses and send them in to school to be recycled for art and craft.

Family Learning

The SWOPS Number to 20 session pack will be sent out on Thursday and the presentation will be sent out via Schoop. Thank you to Mrs Couch for producing such great presentations and for supporting us again recently with supply teaching when we were going through a challenging time.

Wetherspoons

Thank you very much to Wetherspoons, The Godfrey Morgan, who have donated £65.00 to our school fund and who have promised to continue to support us. We are really lucky to be part of such a supportive community.

Annual Governors Report to Parents

The Governors have produced their Annual Report to Parents for the school year 2020/21 which can be found here: https://stwoolosprimary.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Governors-Annual-Report-to-Parents-2020-21.pdf

As always, I’d like to thank all of our Governors for their ongoing support.

Finally, I’d like to thank you for your continued understanding with the challenges of the current situation over the past term. Children have been amazing and have really impressed us so much this term!

Have a really lovely Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!

We’ll see you in 2022!

Yours sincerely,

H Vaughan
