Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for supporting our Sport Relief Kit Day. We raised £157.00 for Sport Relief!

The Year 5 Swimming Couse finished last week and the pupils really were a credit to you and the school. They tried so hard, made great progress and were complimented on their behaviour by staff at the International Sports Village, Spytty Park.

Parental Consultations
Thank you for supporting our Parental Consultations last week. It was great to see so many parents here and I’m really glad that you gave such a high priority to these two evenings. The support a child receives at home makes a huge difference to their success in school and later life so by coming last week, you were helping your child to have the best start.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reschedule these meetings for parents in Miss Howell’s class and Mrs Dickenson’s class at the moment and will do when we are able to. I hope that you were able to have a look at the books that we left out for you though.

We have postponed the Nursery Consultations due for this week.

Also postponed are the Mother’s Day Concerts and Class 4P’s Class Assembly on Friday.

Cwtsh Library
Volunteers from the Cwtsh Library at The Handpost joined us for our Consultations on Tuesday and held a book raffle. The winners were Harry Foster and Etienne Crewe-Bridges. They are open on a Wednesday and Thursday from 3.00-4.00pm after school and are always keen to have new visitors.

Attendance
Last week the school average attendance was 93.7%. Our attendance is slowly improving so I’d like to thank you for your continued support with this.

Future Courses and Meetings
Our Governor Catch-up Sessions to meet our Parent Governors and to find out about the new canteen, is postponed, as is the Foundation Phase Writing course planned for 26.3.20.

Coronavirus
I hope that yesterday’s letter was helpful.

Everything was fine is school today and the children were great. We are doing all we can to minimise their, and your concerns, and I’ll continue to keep you updated when I am able to.

We have no instructions to close the school at the moment and we are very much ‘business as usual’ apart from the following requests:

  • Please do not come into school unless it an emergency. Wherever possible we will ask you to wait at the door.
  • Please ensure that your child takes their water bottle home daily so that you can clean it.
  • Remember to remind your child to wash their hands with soap and count to at least 20 when you are doing that.

We are, however, making provision for a possible closure at some point in the future and are ensuring that all pupil log-ins for home access are working. Children have begin to bring information about these home so please keep them safe.

We will keep you updated with any special information that you need to have via Schoop. As stated in my letter yesterday, I will be available at the start and end of the day to answer any questions you have about anything; from supply teachers to clubs etc.

Mother’s Day Sale
Thank you for donating items for this. We have a number of gifts ranging in price from 50p to £2.00 and these will be on sale every breaktime this week until Friday.

I hope that you have a really lovely Mother’s Day.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
H Vaughan
