Dear Parent,

Thank you very much for your support for Children in Need. We raised a total of £ 173.53

On Tuesday morning, the choir will be joined by Alyson Jones from Gwent Music Support Service in preparation for their concert on Sunday 1st December at the Newport Centre.

Our Year 3/4 Enterprise Sale takes place later on Tuesday afternoon from 3.00-3.45pm in the top hall and I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to come. Children have been very busy planning, costing and making their items and I know that they are looking forward to selling them.

Our Community Giveaway is on Friday between 8.30-9.30am and 3.00-4.00pm. We have a number of items ranging from plastic crates and toys to cupboards which we will be offering for you to take away free from the Boxing Club. You are welcome to go to help yourself to any items. We will have an optional donation basket but the main aim is to give away free items which might otherwise need to go to the tip.

Pantomime

On Friday afternoon we have the Pantomime in school. This year’s production is Cinderella and we know the children will enjoy the performance from M&M which is always excellent. The pantomime is paid for by funds raised through our School Fayres.

Attendance

Our current attendance is 93.9%

Let’s see if we can reach our target of 94% as soon as possible!

The General Election and Year 3/4 Concert

This is a reminder that the school will be used as a Polling Station on Thursday 12th December that day and, in order to ensure the safety of pupils in the school, we will have to close the Nursery and Reception classes for that day. All other classes will remain open.

In addition, we will need to change the day and time of the Y3/4 Concert planned for that day

The new Year 3/4 Concert times are:

Friday 13th December  –   10.00am

                                         –   2.00pm

You will receive a separate letter about this and about ordering tickets if your child is in a Year 3/4 class but I thought that it would be helpful for you to know in advance.

Wrap up Newport

We are again collecting coats and jackets as part of the Wrap Up Newport collection for the homeless. This project is a national project and is supported locally by Help the Homeless Newport, of which Zoya Khan’s (Reception) father and Jai- Freddie’s (Year 1) mum are members. There is a collecting box near the main office if you would like to help us.

Christmas Fayre

Thank you for returning the letters about the our Christmas Fayre which takes place on Friday 29th November.

A separate letter will be sent out about the Fayre time.

Parents who offered to help either before or during the Fayre will be contacted during this week with further information.

Thank you very much if you have already sent in an item for the raffle. As in previous years, staff are very kindly bringing in donations for a food and children’s hampers. Raffle tickets will be on sale from Monday 2th November every break in the hall and they are £1.00 a strip.

If you have any contacts for prizes or donations, please let us know so that we can give you a request letter to pass on. Please also let me know if you work for an organization who provide match funding for events if you would like to help us with that.

Next Tuesday is Tombola Tuesday and children are allowed to wear casual clothes in return for bringing in an item for the Tombola or Raffle. The Friends of St Woolos will be sending you a separate letter about the items that each class is being asked to bring in.

Yours sincerely,
