Dear Parent/Carer,

Our pop-up Enterprise Shop in Kingsway Centre last week was amazing! Children were fantastic and made lovely items to sell and were excellent salespersons in the shop! This was an amazing experience for the children and members of the public have been so complimentary about the pupils; even ringing up to let us know that they were polite. They have been a credit to you. Thank you very much to those parents and children who came along and helped on Saturday morning. I’m very grateful to Mrs Couch who organized the whole project and co-ordinated it entirely.

This afternoon, PC Thomas came in to talk to Y6 about making the right choices in the future concerning drugs ‘It’s your Choice’. PC Thomas will be visiting the following pupils this week: Year 5- Tuesday – ‘I don’t think so’ and Year 4 – Wednesday – ‘I don’t think so’ and she will continue these visits with other classes in the new year.

The Football Team have a match against Mount Pleasant Primary School tomorrow night.

Board Games Club will stop now and children will be able to stay for a full half term in January to make up for the time that they have missed because of events coming up.

On Thursday, we are holding a Coffee Morning from 9.00 to 10.00am for any parents who would like to ask anything about Additional Learning Needs. These termly meetings are an informal way of finding out a bit more about your child’s learning needs and also learning about ways that you can help. Please join us for a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit if you are able to.

On Friday, school and nursery are closed because we have a Cluster INSET day with staff from The John Frost Cluster. Staff will return here at lunchtime and will be joined by staff from other schools, for an afternoon presentation.

Attendance

Our attendance target for 2018-19 is 93.7% and it currently stands at 93.9%.

Well done in particular to those children and parents who have made a tremendous effort to turn things around and massively improve attendance! If you keep this up, we will exceed our target next summer.

Lateness

An increasing number of parents are collecting pupils later and later from nursery and school, especially if they are having to collect a brother or sister from high school. Please collect younger children first and then go to the high school afterwards so that younger children aren’t left waiting.

Unfortunately, some children have been waiting for over half an hour in some instances and this is not acceptable. It is not fair to your child or to staff who are staying with them to supervise them, especially if they are running a club or have a meeting after school.

In an emergency we will always help you- just ring the school to let us know in advance.

Christmas Fayre

Our Christmas Fayre take place on Friday 30th November from 3.45-5.00pm. This is always such a lovely event but, without your help, we will be unable to make it a success. We need parents to help either in the week before, or on the day, if you would like to help us with any task, either at home or in school, please complete and return the form below. Please also let us know if you are able to make any cakes, samosas or pakoras for the Fayre.

The Friends of St Woolos are sending you a separate letter about items for ‘Tombola Tuesday’ next week.

Staffing

Mrs Hassall has remained in Class 3P this week and she will be with them until Mrs Parry is able to return to work.
