Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for supporting Children in Need! The final total raised was £178.09

Our pop-up Enterprise Shop was incredibly successful and we were visited by 2200 people over the three and half day period. We raised a total of £ 2,532.51 (net) and are very grateful to Sytner BMW, Newport City Homes, Linc Cymru and County in The Community for their sponsorship and support.

We will meet with pupils to decide how best to spend the money and all classes will have some as profit also.

Today, Class 5M have a very exciting visit to the Bad Wolf TV production studios in Cardiff. We have had this chance as a  result of the work that children did a few years ago with our Lead Creative schools’  pop-up restaurant and film project with ’It’s My Shout’.

Tombola Tuesday is tomorrow and children can wear their choice of clothes in return for bringing in an item for the Fayre. A letter was sent out last week listing the preference items for each class.

You could also send in a raffle prize instead. Thank you to parents who have already got prizes from local businesses

Please send any home-made cakes or samosas and pakoras in on Friday morning.

Raffle tickets will be on sale every day this week at breaktime for 50p a strip.

On Tuesday evening, PC Katherine Thomas, our School Liaison Officer is leading an Internet Safety meeting for parents of children of all ages. It starts at 6.00pm and should finish by 6.45pm. This is a good introduction to some of the challenges you face as parents in ensuring that your child is safe using the internet, both now and in the future. In February we will be having an Internet Safety Week and we will hold a follow-up meeting then.

Although this meeting is for you and not your child, if you have no-one to leave your child with, you may bring them with you and they will be supervised separately. I hope that as many of you will be able to attend this meeting because it is vitally important that you find out about some of the challenges that you and your child will face even if you are very confident internet users yourselves.

The Football Match against Mount Pleasant Primary School was postponed last week at short notice because the minibus didn’t arrive for transport. However, the match has been rescheduled for this Wednesday and we’re looking forward to a very good match.

Please send all remaining Photograph money in by Wednesday at the latest.

Our Christmas Fayre is on Friday 30th November from 3.45-5.00pm.

Juniors in classes 4J and 5M will be dismissed from the lower Infant entrance door on Stow Hill at the end of the day on Friday, just after the Y1/2 classes. This will help to ease congestion by the main door.

Once you have collected your child, please line up at the front main entrance. We cannot let parents in until all children have been collected and staff have been able to get to the hall. This is because we only have a few parents to run stalls and we need staff to run the others. If any child is not collected on time, they will be taken to the Nursery and can be collected from there.

If you have already offered to help us with the fayre – thank you! We look forward to seeing you at the times you indicated.

If you would like to add your name to our list of helpers, please let us know. Alternatively, if you find that you have a free hour in the afternoon, please just pop in. Your support really helps to make a difference for us.

Attendance and punctuality

Thank you for your promptness in letting us know if your child is ill.

Thank you to those of you who responded to my request last week for younger children to be picked up first before older high school siblings. However, there were still a few children left uncollected at the end of the day on a few occasions and this is not fair to them or staff looking after them. Please ensure that you collect your child on time at the end of the day and bring them on time at the start of the day.  We would always help you if you had an emergency at the end of the day.

Parental Consultations for children in Classes 3P and 4J will take place on Tuesday 4th December from 3.45-5.30pm and on Thursday 6th December from 3.45pm -7.00pm. Please complete the attached form to book an appointment.
