Dear Parent/Carer,

Well done to Class 2S for such a great assembly! Unfortunately neither Mrs Couch nor I were able to attend because of a special meeting that we had to attend but I know that the children did really well because I have had lots of lovely comments about it and saw a lovely photo! Thank you to parents and grandparents for supporting this assembly.

The annual Holocaust Memorial Service took place today at Newport (St Woolos) Cathedral and Mrs Couch took the House Captains to represent the school at this very important service.

Our basketball workshops run by NewportLive continue today for Year 4 and Year 5 pupils.

Miss Murphy’s Inspire Parent/Teacher Fitness Training continues on Tuesday after school. Everyone is welcome. 😊

‘Phunky Foods’ is continuing in Class 2S and children are really enjoying working on their missions! This activity is also run by NewportLive and we really appreciate their support with our health and wellbeing activities.

Don’t forget, for every weekly mission that a child completes, they will have a ticket for and entry into a Year 2 draw for a gift card at the end of the ten week lesson block.

Our assembly on Wednesday will be taken by Canon Mark from Newport Cathedral.

On Thursday, Mrs Couch is running the first in a series of Family Learning workshops and this first one, What’s Maths all About?,  is about the ways we teach Maths in the Foundation Phase. It runs from 9.00-10.00am and will give you the chance to help decide on further workshops that will be helpful for you. I hope that you will be able to join us.

Please return your Photo Permission update form by Friday for your child to be entered into the draw for a Foundation Phase or Key Stage Two gift card.

World Week

Thank you for sending in any remaining questionnaires.

Eco Team

Well done to the Eco Team senior members who gave such a good presentation to the school on Wednesday about the Christmas Card Recycling Competition! They revealed that the winning class was Class 6W who have won a Movie Afternoon.

Our next Eco project is the Rags 2 Riches recycling collection which will take place on Thursday 7th February. This collection also benefits the school because we are paid for every Kg collected. If you need any additional collection bags they are available from the office or you can use a bin bag.

Attendance and National Tests

Thank you for continuing to support your child with attendance and punctuality.

The National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy will take place from Tuesday 7th May until Tuesday 14th May.

Please note that no holiday will be authorized for the month of April leading up to these tests.
