Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for supporting our recent Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We raised a total of over £300.00.

Our fundraising at Christmas will also support this charity because, as you are aware, this is an area that is very close to our hearts because of the recent diagnosis that Miss Bishop received. You will be pleased to know that she is doing well. Thank you for the concern that you have shown about her.

Today we had an Enterprise Day throughout the school to prepare for our Enterprise Shop, which opens in Kingsway on Wednesday 14th November and will run until Saturday 17th November. Thank you very much to parents who attended our recent fund-raising meetings and offered to volunteer for a couple of hours during the week. We need adults to help walk groups of children to and from the shop and also stay with them a provide some help. If you are able to commit to a few hours at some point while the shop is open, please complete and return the attached form.

Mrs Couch is organising the shop and will get back in touch with you.

Netball players are taking part in a Netball Tournament organised by Newport Live at Newport Leisure Centre on Wednesday.

The Football Team are taking part in an after-school football match on Thursday against Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon, Brynglasand parents are welcome to come and watch at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon.

Year 6 pupils have been invited to perform in a special ceremony at Newport (St Woolos Cathedral) on Friday in a special event to commemorate the end of the First World War in 1918. The event has been organized by The Western Front Association and the project, entitled Journey’s End looks at the impact in the local area of the First World War

Our item is looking at the contribution that medical staff made from St Woolos Hospital because it was Field Hospital during the First World War and many casualties who were brought back from France were treated there. There is a particular link with the school because medical staff from the hospital were billeted on the top floor of our school for the duration of the war, so that extra staff could work at the hospital.

The event lasts from 10.00am until 2.30pm and our children will be performing in the afternoon. Children have brought home a separate letter about this and you are welcome to attend if you would like to.The project is involving Millbrook Primary, Clytha Primary and us. Parents and grandparents are welcome to attend this event and also to go to the Cathedral on Saturday when there will be lots of things and performances to see relating to the Armistice.

Dinner Money

Please ensure that your child’s ParentPay account is in credit BEFORE you order a school meal for them. If there are insufficient funds, then we may be unable to provide a meal for your child and you will be telephoned and asked to bring in a packed lunch for them.

Office

Please remember that the office phones won’t be answered between 2.00-3.00pm daily to allow for office work time. You will still be able to leave a message or email should there be a domestic illness or emergency but responsibility for changes for your child’s collection must be taken by you first thing in the morning. By respecting this, you be helping the school to run as it should. Thank you for co-operating with this.
