Dear Parent/Carer,

Children in Y3/4 class had further STEM Coding workshops today from Cardiff University STEM ambassadors Georgina and Alfie.

Tomorrow, Class 6W have a visit to BMW Sytner as part of the World of Work in Wales project. Thank you to Mr Moore, father of George in RD, for arranging this!

On Tuesday also, Chartwells are doing a special Easter Lunch –  Roast Chicken or Quorn Burger in a bun with wedges peas or salad and carrot cake or fresh fruit.

There is no Inspire Fitness Class on Tuesday.

On Wednesday there are two trips taking place. Children in Year 5/6 classes are visiting the Roman Amphitheatre at Caerleon as part of their project work, and children in Y1/2 classes are starting a series of visits to places of worship by visiting Hill Street Mosque.

On Thursday we are having our Easter Hat Parade. All children are invited to bring into school an Easter Hat which they will be able to show to the classes on Thursday afternoon. Morning Nursery children will be able to show classes in the morning.

We are also holding our Easter Egg Draw on Thursday and we are selling raffle tickets this week for 50p a strip. Thank you to the Friends of St Woolos for providing a little Easter Egg for children and also to staff who have donated eggs for our raffle. If you are able to donate a small egg for the draw, please send it in with your child.

On Friday, Class 5/M are doing an Easter Assembly. It starts at 10.15am and parents are invited to attend.

Class Assemblies

The time for Class Assemblies has changed.  We altered our timetable times last week to fit in Guided Group Reading at 9.00am each day and assemblies have been moved to later in the morning.

Please ensure that your child is on school, on time, so that they don’t miss their daily reading session which begins at 9.00am.

Attendance

The National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy will take place from Tuesday 7th May until Tuesday 14th May. No holiday will be authorised during this period.

Well done to Class 3P who had the highest attendance for March with 98.9%! The runners-up who both had 97.2% were Classes RD and 1/2D! Well done to them all!

GP/Dentist Appointments

Where possible please arrange GP/Dentist appointments out of school hours. We appreciate that this is not always possible but we are trying to reduce the number of interruptions to the school day.

Meal Arrears

Please can parents arrange to immediately pay off any outstanding meal arrears. Meals should not be ordered unless your child’s account is in credit.

Parent Governor

Ballot forms will be sent out tomorrow for you to vote for our new Parent Governor. The voting period is two school weeks so forms must be returned by Tuesday 7th May at 12.00pm. The votes will be counted in the presence of our Chair of Governors, Dr Paul Glover.
